Long, slender seed pods follow the blooms and inspire the familiar name Drumstick Tree. Under favourable conditions, the tree can grow quickly and eventually reach approximately 8 metres high and 3 metres wide.

Many cultures value the leaves, immature seed pods, seeds, flowers, bark and roots for different culinary purposes.
