Ginkgo biloba, the Ginkgo plant, is also known as Maidenhair Tree and Golden Fossil Tree. Ginkgo is a slow-growing tree with beautiful leaves. A tincture from the leaves is beneficial, assisting peripheral circulation and enhancing the production of “alpha waves” in the brain. Improves concentration, relieves nervous stress, and is valued as an antioxidant; approved by the German Commission E as a remedy for tinnitus and vertigo. Some authorities suggest that an extract from the leaf may also be a cure for Parkinson’s Disease and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The ginkgo plant is native to China and is adaptable to most soils and positions. Frost-resistant but drought-tender. A deciduous tree, growing to 40m x 7m.
