Philodendron White Princess Aurea Tricolour brings three colours together on glossy, pointed leaves: green, creamy white and pale gold. One leaf might have a broad splash of cream, while the next carries fine golden flecks. Part of the pleasure is watching a new leaf unfurl and seeing where the colours land.
The botanical name is Philodendron erubescens ‘White Princess’. This aurea tricolour form adds soft yellow tones to the green-and-white foliage associated with ‘White Princess’. The amount of each colour varies from leaf to leaf, so even one plant can show several different patterns at once.
If you enjoy comparing variegation, grow it alongside Philodendron ‘Pink Princess’. Its pink markings offer a warm contrast to this plant’s cream and pale gold.
Choose a warm spot with bright, indirect light. A position near a window with a sheer curtain works well if the window receives strong sun. Keep the plant away from cold draughts and provide humidity, especially if your room is often air-conditioned.
Use an airy potting mix that drains freely. Let the top layer dry slightly before watering again, then let any excess water drain away. Check the mix with your finger before reaching for the watering can. The plant may need less water during cooler months.
Philodendron White Princess Aurea can climb a moss pole as its stems lengthen. Guide the stem towards the support so the aerial roots can find something to grip. For a softer display, let the stems spill over the edge of a hanging basket.
