Herb Bennet, seed

Price range: $4.40 through $8.80

Herb Bennet, Geum urbanum, is sometimes known as Avens. Herb Bennet is a handsome rhizome based plant that produces tiny yellow flowers from spring to winter. The aromatic root is clove scented and used as a spice in cooking. Leaves are traditionally used in salads and soups. Magical qualities were once associated with the roots. A strong tea is used as an astringent mouthwash to treat sore gums, mouth ulcers and bad breath. Herb Bennet is native of Russia, Europe and the UK. It prefers light to medium, well drained soils in an open, sunny position. Frost resistant but drought tender. A perennial plant, growing to 0.30m x 0.45m.
