Alocasia ‘Regal Shields’ Aurea Variegated Plant

Alocasia ‘Regal Shields’ Aurea Variegated is a striking tropical foliage plant known for its large, shield-shaped leaves and distinctive golden yellow variegation. Combining the bold form of the popular Regal Shields Alocasia with unpredictable aurea colouring, this plant makes an impressive addition to indoor collections and protected tropical gardens.

The foliage is the main attraction. Large, dark green leaves provide a dramatic background for splashes, marbling, and sectors of yellow, lime, and golden variegation. Each new leaf can develop a completely different pattern, giving the plant an ever-changing appearance as it grows. The contrast between the deep green foliage and warm aurea tones becomes particularly impressive on mature leaves.

Alocasia Regal Shields Aurea develops an upright growth habit with foliage held on strong stems, creating a full and architectural appearance. As the plant matures, its leaves can become substantial, making it an excellent statement plant for larger indoor spaces, patios, shade houses, and tropical garden settings.

For best growth, position Regal Shields Aurea in bright, indirect light or filtered sunlight. Good light helps support healthy growth and attractive variegation, while protection from intense afternoon sun can reduce the risk of scorching lighter sections of the leaves.

Plant into a rich, well-draining growing medium and water when the upper layer begins to dry. Like most Alocasias, it appreciates warmth, humidity, and consistent growing conditions. Avoid allowing the potting mix to remain waterlogged.

With its impressive size, dark foliage, and contrasting golden variegation, Alocasia ‘Regal Shields’ Aurea Variegated offers a bold alternative to traditional white-variegated Alocasias and develops into an exceptional feature plant with maturity.
